This coming spring the Iowa State University Undergraduate BBMB Club will be hosting the second Stupka Micro-Symposium. The event will be held on March 23rd and March 24th of 2007 in the Molecular Biology Building of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

This year's symposium brings three fantastic researchers, which the Iowa State Undergraduate BBMB Club has invited as the three principal speakers to share their findings. They are Margaret Black from Washington State University, John Olson from Rice University and Ronald Raines from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. All three speakers implement the knowledge acquired from structural biology to solve some of the serious problems facing medicine today. If you wish to learn more about the main speakers look for the link above.

The goal of this symposium is to emerge undergraduates and the public into the current and cutting edge research that is taking place in biochemistry. We hope to bring students and other interested parties from Iowa and surrounding states together and observe quality uses of the scientific method and becoming aware of the future of biochemistry. This is also a great opportunity for all pupils of science to get to know other researchers outside of their departments or communities and we encourage anyone to register and attend, did we mention registration and attendance is free!

If you would like to attend, please follow the links above and register so that we will be able to accommodate everyone with informational packets, nametags and food. There will also be an opportunity for those interested (undergraduates, graduates, post-docs or professors) to present posters and/or even give a small 15 minute presentation on their research. We strongly encourage undergraduates to present posters and give small talks. If you plan to present, please make that noted on the registration page. Registration ends February 28th. Walk-ins are welcome the day of the symposium, however we may not have enough informational packets to go around.

If you would like to help us spread the word about this symposium in your department, please print out a flyer to post. If you have any questions please contact us and we will respond as soon as possible.
